Seeding Labs Fellows Program

Having the right tools is essential, but not sufficient.

Our scientists overseas need opportunities to upgrade their skills and to meet new colleagues with whom they can now fully collaborate. The Fellows program was launched in 2010 in collaboration with Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research. This program brings highly-qualified early- and mid-career faculty to the United States for immersion programs. They train side by side with U.S. colleagues, learning new techniques and becoming familiar with cutting-edge equipment and methods.

They receive training in other critical skills needed by scientific leaders such as curriculum development and grant writing taught by world experts from the U.S. And they build their professional networks – meeting a wide variety of scientific colleagues from academia and industry. Fellows are chosen through an application process from a select number of our partner universities. Priority is given to scientists who are highly involved in training students, so that when they return home from the U.S. they will disseminate what they learn to a wide audience of younger scientists.
