At Seeding Labs, we believe that access to scientific equipment can change the world, and we are lucky to have a passionate community of supporters who agree! Since 2008, we have received over 64,000 pieces of previously used scientific equipment from 273 corporations, universities, and nonprofits.
We are grateful for every donation of equipment. Each piece carries the potential to catalyze research and education in developing countries, where access to the tools of science is often limited.
Here are the top five equipment donors to Seeding Labs in 2025:
MilliporeSigma
Seeding Labs Partner since 2016
Our Signature Partnership with MilliporeSigma is remarkable for its breadth and depth. Their funding support and extensive, varied equipment donations are critical to our success. They have completely integrated the equipment donation process into their operations, making it easy for employees across MilliporeSigma to connect their excess equipment with impact in the hands of our Instrumental Access awardees around the world. Also, together we developed our TeleScience platform, of which Millipore is a Founding Sponsor.
Thermo Fisher Scientific
Seeding Labs Partner Since 2011
Seeding Labs has worked with many different divisions of Thermo Fisher—one of our longest-standing partners—to increase access to equipment worldwide. Through an innovative trade-in program, Thermo has donated over 150 new and like-new thermal cyclers to Seeding Labs since 2019. Last year, their new, centralized process identified excess equipment across the corporation, resulting in a significant influx of equipment now available to Instrumental Access awardees around the world.
Labconco
Seeding Labs Partner Since 2014
Personnel throughout Labconco are committed to the Seeding Labs mission and have arranged multiple donations of high-quality equipment over the years. And as the only manufacturer to have donated evaporators and freezer dryers, they fill a gap no one else has. Several times, when we had urgent requests for specific pieces of equipment, Labconco responded generously—most recently for Malawi’s first virology institute.
METTLER TOLEDO
Seeding Labs Partner Since 2013
Our ongoing and growing partnership with METTLER TOLEDO has, in recent years, included significant donations of their sector-leading balances – a key instrument for many of our Instrumental Access awardees. Last year was our biggest ever with METTLER, which donated nearly 100 new balances in 2025. Donations direct from manufacturers are the gold standard, ensuring our awardees have access to top-of-the-line equipment for years to come.
Agilent
Seeding Labs Partner Since 2021
Our Agilent relationship spans donations of equipment, consumables, access to Agilent University for Instrumental Access awardees, and our very first donations of software – a crucial component for the functionality of equipment like HPLCs. We are also grateful for support from the Agilent Foundation and for Agilent’s remarkable 2025 donation of 27 new microplate readers with software.
